The Bittensor Network

Bittensor is a global AI network where developers build intelligent models that compete in specific challenges, such as spotting deepfakes or predicting the weather. The better your AI performs, the more you earn in TAO tokens.

Our Role: Subnet Owner (Challenge + Live API)

We run our own subnet on Bittensor – a combination of a recurring AI competition and a live API. In our case, it's focused on weather forecasting. We ask questions (e.g. 'What will the temperature be in Amsterdam in 3 days?'), collect answers, and later compare them to the real outcome. But not every question is for evaluation – some come from actual apps or users. Since the AI participants don’t know which is which, they always try to give their best answer. That’s what makes Bittensor so powerful: it’s a live AI infrastructure that constantly improves through competition, and is instantly useful for real-world applications.

Our Role: AI Developer (Competitor / 'Miner')

We also participate in other people's subnets. In Bittensor, this is called 'mining', but it's nothing like Bitcoin. There are no blocks or pointless puzzles. Instead, we build intelligent AI that solves real problems – like detecting deepfakes, summarizing podcasts, or translating languages.

**Important: this is *not* traditional crypto mining.** No energy-hungry hardware or meaningless computations. We build useful AI that competes on quality. The best-performing models earn TAO.

Earning TAO through Competition and Real Use

Whether we’re running our own subnet or competing in others, we earn **TAO tokens** – the native currency of Bittensor. The better our software performs, the more we’re rewarded – both through competition and by powering real-world applications.
